Nighttown & Packard Music Hall

Hello everyone!, and welcome to all my 'new arrivals' as i like to call you! New subscibers to the most entertaining (well most of the time!) email list on the planet!
You know, i've typed this newsletter to you all from a number of different destinations and today i am writing to you from inside the Library of Congress in wonderful Washington DC where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. What a lovely city this is with no high rise buildings to ruin the sky line.
It's mighty quiet in the library as one would expect so this is good for concentration. I have finished what I came here to do so I thought 'I know, I'll write to my pals!'
I've had to contend with a 'NO Woman' in the library - you know, most librarys have one. They are that person who just loves to say 'no'.....all the time...to everything. She wears these little glasses perched on her nose and looks at me from over the top of them like i'm some sort of naughty school girl! The others in the department have been most helpful and I've tried to make it as easy on them as possible as I do my research but Mrs No. is having none of it! Thankfully I dotted my 'i's' and crossed ALL my 't's' before I came here, much to her chagrin, so there's been a couple of times where she's been unable to say 'NO' and I promise, I have kept a very straight face ... no smugness - no 'I told you so's'....well maybe just a quiet one under my breath.
Yesterday the nice staff were letting me come and go with boxes of music which I took and returned from the LEFT hand side of their desk. Mrs No arrives and I walked up to the left hand side of the desk to return a box of music. Mrs No says loudly to her trainee 'now see here Susan how this lady (pointing to me) is doing something she shouldn't!'
I said 'who me?" (with my best innocent expression on my face)
'Yes' said Mrs No (cause she had to say yes at that particular point) 'you should be bringing the boxes of music back to the RIGHT hand side of the desk!'
"okay' I said and I picked up the box ( which was pretty heavy) and carried it to the RIGHT side of the desk.
'thank you' said Mrs No and 'now I'LL carry it over to the LEFT hand side of the desk'. And would you believe it - she picked up the box and took it back to exactly where i'd just carried it from!!!
I paused and stared and shook my head in disbelief.
And so it went on. I"ve been royally told off about 5 times a day for doing what I was told and I swear if I were hear for another day.......well i'm not sure what I could be capable of!! However, i'm on my bestest behaviour as the citizenship test looms on Monday morning!
I'm home on Thursday and very excited as I am at Nighttown on Friday and the PACKARD music Hall for a FREE concert with the Packard Concert Band on Sunday afternoon!
I hope lots of you might like to kick off the Easter weekend with me at the Sheraton on Good Friday (that's Friday 10th April) Doug thought I should wear a bunny tail...I told him that if he liked bunny tails so much then I have no problem with him wearing one!!! He wasn't so keen on that idea..wonder why?!
Hope to see you soon!
