Buy Helen's CD 'One Dream' !!

The CD was recorded with the fantastic Cleveland Jazz Orchestra playing on 9 tracks and my wonderful quartet on the other 7 (yes that's right you get 17 whole songs to enjoy!)
Rosemary Riddle (Nelson Riddle's daughter) gave me an arrangement of Zing! Went The Strings of my Heart' and gave me permission to record and perform it - what an honor! Apart from Judy Garland, no one has ever recorded this song - the famous Riddle arrangement is fabulous of course!
There are two original songs included on the CD including the title track 'One Dream' which from the feedback i've recieved seems to be really popular.
You may order the CD directly from my web site by clicking on the link below...I promise you won't be dissappointed. This will take you to my web site where you can hear clips from the recording before you decide to buy.

Helen on the radio!!

Aaaah the time for raking leaves has arrived! We have about 95 million trees in our yard.....well, that may be a slight exageration but they drop as many leaves as if there were 95 million trees standing there! And have you noticed how they wait till you've just cleared the lot, and then bam! as soon as you turn your back there they are again?
So - Sunday was such a gorgeous day and I love to be outside doing anything mindless on a Sunday. Something that takes no brain power at all so that I can put my head phones on and learn my Xmas songs whilst I do my mindless chores So, on Sunday that entailed pulling up my crop of parsnips and raking leaves! Bliss!
You Yankees don't eat parsnips in the quantities that us Brits eat them and I love 'em! Roasted they are particularly good - with honey and olive oil but equally good is parsnip soup - yummmmmy!
I am very proud to say that I am now the owner of a laundry basket full of parsnips and some of them are real bigguns! i mean - the size of a small baseball bat!! I cannot take the credit though as anything in my garden has to survive on pure neglect! My Dad planted the seeds when he was here in May and i just followed his instructions (he has very green fingers or thumbs as you say!)to water them and weed them......when I remembered that is!!
Next I raked leaves as if my life depended on it! Yep, singing away my Xmas songs (I think Doug was groaning but I couldn't hear him too well cause I had my headphones on!..and anyway, he should be happy that his wife is helping to rake!)
I voted to start a fire - Doug was not too keen as it was a little windy but I said 'I'm not raking up those babies only to find that they've re-spread themselves back where they came from tomorrow morning!' So Doug relented and a fire was started.
There is something very satisfying about raking up a ton of leaves and then dragging them over to the hungry flames and watching them 'burn baby burn' and to know for sure that at least that particular pile have gone up in smoke - and boy did they smoke!
Then on Tuesday we had these marvelous gentlemen come over in a large truck type contraption with a HUGE hoover on the back of it! A Leaf Hoover! i was pretty excited - I mean imagine what you could do with one of those in your house?! I could hoover up all Doug's clutter..never to be seen again!
Now I know you may be asking 'why not rake the leaves to the edge of your property and the city will pick them up?' Well the answer is - we live in the boonies where they don't pick up leaves and secondly - we have a long drive way and it would take Doug and I till December to rake all those leaves to the end of it! So we hired these guys and they sucked up a TON of leaves in no time at all - turning them all in to mulch - magic! They did in 30 minutes what would have taken us 2 weeks to do. I could have kissed them but i abstained due to the fact that they both had way too much facial hair for my liking!
Now on to December....
I know many of you have made your reservations for this year's holiday show 'Jingle Bell Swing'. Tell your friends and family to come too and we'll all meet at the Akron Civic on the 19th December. Do check all the dates and venues below including a show at Nighttown (where for once it'll be quiet!)called 'Jingle Bell Jazz' A GREAT, feel good way to start your holiday celebrations! AND Brendon Ring the owner whom many of you are familiar with, will be appearing as Santa Claus...the Irish version!
On Tuesday Nov 11th (Veterans Day) I shall be on WAKR with the wonderful Ray Horner and shall be singing some patriotic songs 'on the air' Usually any time before 9am I have a tendency to sound and sing as low as Lee Marvin (aka 'I Was Born Under A Wondering Star')so I shall get up extra early to warm up the vocal chords!
Do tune in and I hope to see you soon1
