Guess what? I'm going to sing the National Anthem....!!
Hi everyone!
on this gloriously sunny Tuesday morning and before I trot off to the barn to go horse riding I thought I'd drop you a line to share some very exciting news. As most of you know, I swore in as an American Citizen last June BUT somehow I did not feel quite 'complete'.
Well the solution has arrived and through the actions of two wonderful friends I shall be walking out on to the Indians pitch.... field...whatever you call it and singing the National Anthem!!! Wooooowwweeee!
I'm soooooo nervous! The month will be in May and I will confirm the actual date as soon as I recieve it in writing.
Questions: what does one wear to sing the National Anthem at an Indians game? Do I get to wear their 'outfit' so I co-ordinate with the players? Should I have a dress made in white so I don't clash?...do I wear a baseball cap?....with or without sequins? (you know how I love to sparkle!)..all your advice will be gratefully recived!
Or course,what I'd really like to do is throw the ball too but I must confess that throwing balls is not one of my strengths!! All in all I think that after this experience I will feel like a REAL American!
Funny though - I was at the music school where I teach voice when I recieved this exciting news and some of the other staff and students started to sing the anthem.....I was started to find that many of them didn't know all the words!!!
I'm not sure why i'm so nervous cause I don't normally get nervous when I sing but maybe it's because there's no band and it is an awfully big place isn't it?!!! Can't wait!
April with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra!
It's been an awfully long time since I sang with my home town jazz orchestra but i'm happy and excited to report that I've been invited to join this world class big band on Sunday April 11th in a concert called 'Swinging at the Temple'. See below for all the details of where the venue is, tickets e.t.c. The show will also feature the CJO's new Artisitic Director Sean Jones who together with the band have been wowing the Cleveland crowds and selling out many a concert!
